Award-Winning Gingerbread Design

For the past month, I have been working on a gingerbread design, Wintertime Candy Carousel, for the annual Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY. All that hard work paid off, as I placed first in the junior (ages 10-17) category! It was so amazing to see all of the talented gingerbread artists' work on display. I was completely shocked when they announced that I had won...my mom and I had our mouths hanging open! Here are some photos of the various components of my piece, which included a sugar cube igloo, frosted Christmas tree, fondant snowman, and a booth for selling Christmas wreaths, in addition to the carousel (which was made entirely from gingerbread and candy decorations--no non-edible supports used).
