Baa-by Shower Cake

Two teachers at my school are married, and they recently had a baby -- on my birthday, yes! -- so I was excited to be asked to make their baby shower cake. We wanted to do something gender neutral, so I suggested sheep because I think they are adorable. I made the sheep family out of fondant, with a sombrero for the Spanish teacher and safety goggles and a beaker for the science teacher. The yellow and white flowers and green leaves are all gum paste with hand-painted details. The cake is vanilla with buttercream to keep it simple. They loved the cake and were touched that I made it for them; I'm just happy the baby and I share a birthday!
