Getting Ready for Summer with a Beach Cake

My godmother loves the beach, so for her birthday, I made a beach-themed vanilla cake. I dyed the buttercream several shades of blue to create an ombre swirl of waves around the outside of the cake, and I crumbled extra vanilla cake to create "sand" for the top of the cake. I then added some fun, "beachy" sprinkles: white seashells, yellow pineapples, blue mermaid fins, and pink flamingos. She loved the theme, especially since her February birthday is usually cold and gray!
