The advisors to my school's Model Congress activity wanted to celebrate a recent victory at a competition so they asked me to make a chocolate cake with a fun filling and the Capitol, a gavel, and an American flag incorporated in some way.

I filled the cake with homemade vanilla pudding and multicolored sprinkles for some fun. I covered the cake in a thin layer of buttercream and fondant. The cake was wrapped in a fondant "facade" of the Capitol building, hand-painted with edible food dye. The top of the cake featured a hand-painted gavel atop an American flag with gold star sprinkles for a little extra bling.
